Located at r. Bolshaya Atma, 16 km from the district center and 18 km from the railway station Red Uzel. Anthroponym name: after the name of the nobleman Trofim Naumov . It was founded in the middle of the 17th century. In the “List of Populated Places of the Penza Province” (1869), Trofimovschina is the owner's village of 184 yards of the Saransk district . According to the data of 1913, in Trofimovschina there was a 2-class school, a mill with an oil engine and 10 windmills, 4 forges, several trading shops and semi-artisan workshops; on Tuesdays a large bazaar was held.
