Dobrovolsky ( Latin: Dobrovol'skiy ) is a large ancient impact crater in the southern hemisphere of the far side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the Soviet cosmonaut Georgy Timofeevich Dobrovolsky (1928-1971) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1973. The formation of the crater belongs to the nectar period [1] .

Crater Description
The northwestern part of the shaft of the crater Dobrovolsky overlaps the Shirakatsi crater. Other nearby neighbors of the crater are Dungeon Crater in the west-north-west, Perepelkin Crater in the north, Lane Crater in the northeast, Volkov Crater in the east-southeast, Patsaev Crater in the southeast and Tsiolkovsky Crater in the south [2] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 38.4 km [3] , depth 2.2 km [1] .
The crater has a polygonal shape and is significantly destroyed during its existence. the shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 1010 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 1100 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is crossed, almost completely covered by rocks ejected during the formation of the Shirakatsi crater, with the exception of a small area in the southern part.
