Biography
Viktor Chukhnakov was born on June 7, 1922 in the village of Hanino (now Suvorovsky District of the Tula Region ). After graduating from seven classes of school he worked as an electrician. In 1942, Chukhnakov was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since May of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By September 1944, Senior Sergeant Viktor Chukhnakov commanded the gun of the 1326th Light Artillery Regiment of the 71st Light Artillery Brigade of the 5th Guards Artillery Division of the 53rd Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Hungary . On September 29, 1944, the calculation of Chukhnakov participated in the reflection of five German counterattacks near Lake Balaton , destroying 4 enemy tanks. Left without shells, Chukhnakov and his comrades continued to fight with grenades and small arms, holding on to the captured positions [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945, senior sergeant Viktor Chukhnakov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
After the war, Chukhnakov was demobilized. He lived and worked in his homeland [1] . He died on May 15, 1999 .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , two Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, Orders of the Red Star and Glory of the 3rd degree, a number of medals [1] .
