Biography

Mikhail Chursin was born on September 18, 1922 in the village of Kalabino (now the Zadonsky District of the Lipetsk Region ). After finishing eight classes of school he worked as a tractor driver. In 1941, Chursin was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .

By March 1945, the senior sergeant Mikhail Chursin commanded the guards of the 315th Guards anti-tank artillery regiment of the 27th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Hungary . On March 12, 1945, the calculation of Chursin reflected German counterattacks in the area of ​​Lake Velence near the settlement of Hajdu , knocking out 4 enemy tanks. In that battle Chursin died. He was buried at the site of his last battle [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 26, 1945, the guard sergeant Mikhail Chursin was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and World War 2 nd degree, a number of medals [1] .
