Neknomination (sometimes Neknominate ; from the English nek - grab the collar and nominate - nominate [1] ) - an alcoholic game and flash mob, popular in the early to mid-2010s [2] among English-speaking Internet users and some social networks. According to the initial version, a participant in a game drinks a pint (0.56 liter) of an alcoholic drink, often beer, in one go, takes a video of the process and uploads it to the global Internet or to a social network (usually Facebook ). At the same time, the participant nominates two or three people to repeat his actions. Those who receive the baton as part of the game are required to complete the task in 24 hours in order to maintain their authority [2] . According to some estimates, more than one hundred thousand people took part in the game [1] , among the participants of the students there are more men [3] .
The game gained popularity in the winter of 2013-2014 and, as the virus spread, the participants gradually complicated the conditions, bringing them to the most extreme, for example, using stronger drinks (vodka), a larger volume (liter), adding strange components to the drink (in some cases, even aquarium fish), or engaging in hazardous activities while drinking or immediately after it.
The game was invented in Australia around 2011. At the end of 2013, the game gained popularity and spread throughout the UK and Ireland , at the beginning of 2014 participants from the USA and Canada were noted [4] . The increased popularity of the game was associated with the Christmas video of the former rugby player Ross Samson , in which an unlimited number of people were nominated for the contest right away [5] [6] .
The vast majority of participants did not receive any harmful consequences from participating in the game. Most video nominations are published on Monday [1] .
In Ireland, the Mature Enjoyment of Alcohol in Society group condemned the phenomenon and stated that the flash mob was aimed at a younger audience, involving it in the irresponsible drinking of alcohol, using pressure from friends [7] .
Flash mob members often used the twitter tags neknomination and neknominate .
The proposed ban on the phenomenon could only make it more popular. The British media noted that, like any other alcohol games, NekNominate is a boring and stupid game. [8] .
Several participants in the initiative died in 2014-2015 as a result of alcohol poisoning [1] [9] .
