Formation and History
The Bashkir separate cavalry division was organized by order No. 615 of the Chairman of the Revolutionary Military Council of the RSFSR L. D. Trotsky on April 5, 1919 in the city of Saransk on the basis of former soldiers of the Bashkir Corps and mobilized recruits as the Bashkir separate brigade .

In July 1919, the division became part of the 14th Army , in September 1919 - the Petrograd garrison, and in October - the Bashkir group of forces .
In July-October 1919, near the cities of Bakhmach , Kharkov and Poltava, it fought against the army units of General A. I. Denikin [1] . Due to heavy losses, the 1st and 2nd Bashkir rifle regiments were reorganized into the Joint (consolidated) Bashkir rifle regiment (commander A. Kh. Teregulov), and the 1st and 2nd Bashkir cavalry regiments into the United ( consolidated) Bashkir cavalry regiment.
Since September 1919, the division was sent to Petrograd . Parts of the Bashkir separate cavalry division participated in the defense of Petrograd and in the Yamburg operation.
The division’s political department published the Salavat newspaper (edited by A. Gismati ) [2] .
Since January 1920, it was located in the Novgorod province . In May 1920, the Bashkir separate cavalry division was disbanded, its units were merged into the 1st Bashkir cavalry regiment, which in June of the same year became part of the Bashkir separate cavalry brigade M. L. Murtazin .
