Biography

Born into a peasant family. He spent his childhood and youth, like most peers, in his studies, Komsomol activities, and collective farm labor. After graduating from the 7th grade of the Kuminov school, he was drafted into the army.

He met the beginning of the war in military service. Their tank unit was alerted at 4 a.m. on June 22. And on the third day of the battle, the mechanic-driver Semukhin was wounded in the leg. The tank had to be left and join the ranks of reconnaissance infantry.

He participated in the defense of Moscow , in the Battle of Stalingrad , in the liberation of Ukraine and Romania.

The defense of Moscow became memorable for the veteran. He told about this as follows: “On the sixth of December we launched an offensive. Before that, I sharpened the sapper shovel all night, since there were few weapons, and cartridges too. And when we broke into the trench of the Nazis, the first who did not have time to shoot the enemy at me, I shot. And then eight Hitlerites chopped this very shoulder blade ... "

In the second attack, Semukhin was seriously injured by a splinter in the head. It was so heavy that for more than a day he lay unconscious in the snow and froze his fingertips on his hands. After 6 months of treatment, the doctors sentenced: disabled.

But Vasily, young and hot, did not want to put up with this:

“I’ll fight anyway,” he told the medical board.

And he got his way. I met the battle of Stalingrad as part of the Guards Rifle Division. Volga - three hundred meters. The Germans shout loudly:

"Rus, give up!"

November 18, 1942 Vasily Sergeyevich and his comrades repelled 24 attacks of the Nazis. And the next day, that is, November 19, Soviet artillery powerfully spoke. This was the beginning of a turning point in the battle, and throughout the war too.

The first of the orders of Glory, the scout earned in the autumn of 1943. He remembered that sortie for a long time. And it was at the Donets Seversky. One of the dark nights, six scouts embarked on a boat in search of a "language." Suddenly they saw a light on the enemy shore, they realized that it was a dugout. They moored quietly, removed the sentry. Vasily Sergeevich burst first, grabbed a grenade from his belt, pulled out a check and shouted in German: "Hyundai Hoh!"

The Nazis froze, the scouts swaddled the drunken lieutenant lying on the bunks, jumped out of the dugout with him. Vasily did not notice how long he stood with a grenade in his hand. Suddenly, he seemed to wake up, rushed after his comrades, throwing a deadly gift back into the opening of the dugout.

The entire enemy coast set in motion. Basil lay in the reeds on the shore and opened fire, diverting attention. When the boat with the group went offshore a considerable distance, he threw himself into the water. He swam under water as much as he had enough spirit, emerged, took in air and sank again ...

In total, on the account of the scout there are nine personally acquired “languages”, on his body - six severe wounds, in the frontline biography - the liberation of his native land, access to the border with Romania ... And peaceful work.
