Gebhardt, Robert

Robert Gebhart began his football career at the Nuremberg club, for which he played in the Gavlig Bayern . During World War II from 1943 to 1945 he played for the Luftwaffen in Hamburg , with whom he lost in 1943 in the final of the German Cup to the club Vienna and in the final of the German championship to Dresdner .

After the war ended, Gebhart returned to Nuremberg , which had participated in the Oberlig South at that time. In total, he played 125 matches for this team and scored 22 goals. On August 8, 1948, in Cologne, Gebhart helped beat the Kaiserslautern in the final of the German Championship . After winning the 1950 Oberliga South , he moved again to Hamburg to FC St. Pauli , for which he scored 2 goals in 59 games.

As a player, Gebhart was described as follows: “He was an interesting Nuremberg player after the Second World War , the main left midfielder and had great offensive power. Perhaps he was too stubborn ” ^[1] . “The left midfielder always overweight charmed with his technique, appearance and power of impact. Thanks to the business of his parents, he agreed with a slaughterhouse and supplied products to the team in the first hungry years after the war ” ^[2] .

In 1953, coach Helmut Johanssen invited Gebhart to Bremerhaven . After Johanssen left for Holstein , Robert became the team's playing coach and took second place in the Oberlig North in 1955. Thus, he led the club to the final of the German championship , where in the group stage he faced the clubs Vormatia , Kickers and Rot-Weiss (Essen) , which he finished in second place with six points (the first place was taken by the future Roth-Weiss champion).

In 1956, Gebhart received a license as a coach and continued to lead Bremerhaven until 1958, when he moved to Zodingen . He was unable to avoid relegation from Oberliga “West” in the 1958/59 season, but the very next year he again returned the team to the top division. In the 1960/61 season, Gebhart moved to Augsburg and, together with team leader Helmut Haller, brought her to Oberliga South for the next season.

He then led Wuppertal in the 1963/64 season and took second place with him following Alemania from Aachen to the West West League . The next season he repeated this result, but already after Arminiya . After he worked for two years at Greuther Furth .

On July 1, 1968, Gebhart became the head coach of Duisburg and took part in the newly formed Bundesliga for the first time. Due to the low position of the team in the 1969/70 season, he was dismissed, and later joined the Werder , where he also lingered a little more than one season. In 1972, Gebhart headed “ Wacker (Innsbruck) ” and led him to victory in the national championship and cup . He spent the last years of his coaching career at his home club, Nuremberg .
