Georgi Todorov Chapkanov ( Bulgarian. Georgi Todorov Chapkanov , also known as Chapa ; born January 24, 1943 , -Dol ) is a Bulgarian sculptor.

Biography

In 1961, Chapkanov entered the Bulgarian National Academy of Art in Sofia . Since 1974 he has been teaching at the academy. His works take part in all significant exhibitions of contemporary Bulgarian art, and are also on display at the St. Petersburg Hermitage , the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, and at the National Gallery in Sofia. Co-author of the coat of arms of the Bulgarian Republic. In 2000, a statue of St. Sophia by Chapkanov was installed on Sofia Independence Square .
