Biography
Mario Cantone was born December 9, 1959 in Boston , Massachusetts . At the age of two, he moved with his parents to the town of Stone in the same state. He was the fourth of five children in the family of Mario Cantone Sr., the owner of an Italian restaurant and night club [5] , and Elizabeth (nee Pescion; d. In 1980 or 1981): his parents were from Italy [6] .
In 1978, Cantone graduated from Stoneham High School , in 1982 - Emerson College [7] [8] .
In his stand-up appearances, Canton uses an energetic assertive manner of expression; The objects of his jokes are most often celebrities, stereotypes, family, everyday life. Cantone first appeared on the television screen in 1987 in the Steampipe Alley children's show [8] , where he took part in three episodes, playing the roles (parody) of Stephen King and Peter Pan . The actor’s debut on the wide screen took place in 1994 - he played the role of a passerby in the film “ Quiz ”. In 1999, Cantone first tried himself as a screenwriter: he wrote the script for one episode of ; in 2006, he first tried himself as a voice actor, giving his voice to the penguin Sidney in the pseudo-documentary comedy Fars Penguins .
In 2002, Cantone was invited to the musical “The Lion King” for the role of meerkat , but could not cope with the role, since there it was necessary to work with papier-mâché dolls almost human height [9] .
In October 2011, shortly after gay marriage was legalized in New York State , Cantone officially married the musical theater director Jerry Dixon, with whom he had been in a relationship for 20 years [10] . The ceremony was held by pastor, writer and theologian [11] .
