Biography
Alexander G. Chernomorets was born on June 20, 1909 in the village of Shchurovtsy in the Bratslavsky district of the Podolsk province of the Russian Empire, which later became the Sitkovetsky district [1] district of the Vinnitsa region (now the Gaysinsky district of the Vinnitsa region of Ukraine ). After graduating from four classes of the school, he worked on the railway. In July 1941, Chernomorets was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front of World War II [2] [3] .
By September 1943, Sergeant Alexander Chernomorets was in command of the 101st Separate Engineer Battalion of the 30th Rifle Division of the 47th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On the night of September 24–25, 1943, the Chernomorets branch sent a forward detachment across the Dnieper , which seized a bridgehead on the west bank of the river. On September 26, 1943, Chernomorets pulled a rope and with it helped ferry reinforcements and evacuated the wounded. When the ferry was broken the next day, Chernomorets took the boat and, despite shelling, rescued his comrades from the water [4] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 25, 1943, Sergeant Alexander Chernomorets was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [5] . In 1946, with the rank of lieutenant, Chernomorets [6] was transferred to the reserve.
The last years of his life were lived in the village of Kuzmintsy [7] . He died on August 22, 1975 . He was buried in the village of Shchurovtsy [8] . In Kuzmintsy [9] , a bust is installed near the House of Culture. At the cemetery [10] in the village of Shchurovtsy, a new monument to the Hero was erected.
Honorary Citizen of Kanev . He was also awarded the medal "For Courage" [11] .
