Laser engraving of stone (“engraving” of the German. Gravieren , fr. Graver - cut on something) - a type of stone processing using a focused laser beam, thanks to which an image is formed on the stone (drawing, text, pattern, portrait).
Stone laser engraving equipment
For laser engraving stone used laser machines. Most often, laser engraving of a stone is carried out using CO2 gas lasers ( carbon dioxide lasers are used ). When a focused laser beam contacts the surface of a stone, a micro chip or stone fusion is formed on the surface, depending on the selected radiation power.
Benefits
The advantages of laser stone engraving over mechanical methods of engraving are the following:
- the process speed is much higher, which significantly reduces the cost
- high quality engraving due to the high resolution of the laser beam
- no mechanical impact on the stone, which affects the accuracy of the engraving
Application
Laser stone engraving is one of the most popular stone engraving methods in the world. Currently, laser engraving of stone is widely used in the field of funeral services, mainly in the manufacture of tombstones. Laser engraving of stone is carried out on such types of stone as gabbro , basalt , marble , dolerite and other types of stones.
