NHL Career
Chris Neal at the 1998 NHL Draft in round 6 under number 161 was selected by the Ottawa Senators team. In Ottawa, in the person of the Nile, they immediately saw the necessary and irreplaceable power player for many years. He made his debut in the NHL on October 3, 2001 in a match against the Toronto Maple Leafs . Since the 2001-02 season, Neil has been the Senators' absolute record holder for penalties, fights and power moves.
Game Style
Neal is one of the toughest and most powerful players in the history of the NHL - it is Chris Neal who, according to North American hockey experts, is recognized as the most traumatic player in the league. Over the course of five seasons, the striker injured over two dozen NHL players, including Milan Lučić , Johnny Boychak , Alexander Ovechkin , and Matt Cassian.
Along with security officials like Matt Cook , Jordin Tutu , Neil was one of the league’s most hated players. A joke about the Nile was distributed among hockey players and journalists: "His rare-toothed smile, apart from Ottawa fans, does not please anyone." Because of his tough style, Chris himself often suffered such serious injuries as a broken jaw and nose.
At the end of the 2016/17 season , Ottawa did not offer the attacker a new contract, and on December 14, 2017, Neil announced his retirement. [one]
