Chaos (Latin) is a genus of red algae of the family Porphyridiaceae . The taxon was singled out by the French botanist and naturalist Jean-Baptiste Borie de Saint-Vincent in 1823 [1] . The name is rejected ( nom. Rej. ) In favor of Porphyridium , that is, when these genera are combined, the latter is considered the last name, although it was published later.
