Biography
In 1882 he graduated from the Medical Faculty of the University of St.. Vladimir in Kiev . from 1887 he worked in Odessa , in 1904-1908 - privat-docent Novorossiysk University . Since 1908 - Head of the Department of Surgical Pathology of the University of Novorossiysk.
The initiator of the construction and the first head physician of the Odessa Regional (Provincial) Hospital (1902-1908). He organized a boarding school for young doctors. In 1908 he left the civil service under the pressure of the Black Hundreds .
In 1918, during the civil war, he emigrated to Turkey .
Scientific Activities
The works of I. F. Sabaneev are mainly devoted to the issues of plastic and vascular surgery .
In the experiment he proved that “the sewn wound of the heart in a rabbit completely stops the bleeding” (1885). One of the first in the world and the first in Russia in 1895, he performed a successful arteriotomy , thrombectomy and arteriography procedure on the femoral artery .
He offered the operation of treating the lower leg in the knee joint (it became widespread and was named after Sabaneev); developed the treatment of tuberculosis , stitching blood vessels, first worked on the method of imposing gastric fistula .
Initiator of postgraduate training in surgery ( internship ).
