Biography

G.T. Chikulaev was born on January 3, 1912 in the village of Chistoye, Kazarkinsky volost, Kurgan district, Tobolsk province (now Makushinsky district, Kurgan region ).

After finishing seven classes of the school, he first worked at the Makushinsky state farm , then he graduated from tractor courses and worked at the machine and tractor station .

In 1936 - 1938 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army in the Far East .

After demobilization, he was sent to strengthen mechanization personnel at the Kazarkinsky MTS, where he established himself as a knowledgeable farmer.

In August 1941, he was re-drafted into the army by the Makusha RVC. Since December of that year - on the fronts of World War II [2] .

By October 1943, the Red Armyman Gordey Chekulaev was a machine gunner of the machine gun company of the 3rd Rifle Battalion of the 1144th Rifle Regiment of the 340th Rifle Division of the 38th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On the night of October 1 to October 2, 1943, in a battle on a bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Borki, the Vyshhorod district of the Kiev region, he suppressed three German firing points. Also distinguished himself during the battles for the expansion of the bridgehead . The village of Borki now does not exist, flooded by the Kiev reservoir .

Due to an error in the documents, he “changed” his surname to “ Chekulaev ” [3] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 10, 1944, Red Armyman Gordey Chekulaev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [2] .

In subsequent battles, he was seriously wounded and in 1944 was demobilized. He lived in Kiev , until 1954 he served in the police. He worked in various operational positions in the Internal Affairs Directorate in the Kiev region: as a district police officer, as a security officer, and then as an inspector at the regional Directorate. Then he worked as an operator in Kiev gorgaz [2] .

He died in 1991 [4] .
