Content
History
The Diocese of Basil the Great with its center in Bucharest was established on May 29, 2014 . The decision to establish a diocese was made at the synod of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church and approved by the Holy See [1] . The territory of the new diocese was separated from the archdiocese of Fagaras and Alba-Julia (southern part).
Current status
The diocese unites parishes in the south of Romania. It is a suffragan in relation to the Metropolitan Fagaras and Alba-Julia . Since its inception, the diocese has been led by Bishop Mihai Fresile . Diocese Cathedral - St. Basil the Great Cathedral in Bucharest.
