Biography

Back in school, he became a member of the labor movement. In 1933 he joined the ranks of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia.

In 1934 he was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison with a sentence in Sremska Mitrovica Prison. After his release in 1937, he became a member of the Regional Committee of the Union of Communist Youth of Serbia, and in 1938 - a member of its Central Committee. In 1940 he was appointed secretary of the Communist Party district committee in Zayechar.

Since the beginning of the National Liberation War, in July 1941, he was an instructor of the Communist Party of Serbia regional committee for the organization of the first partisan detachments in Timochka, from mid-1942 until the end of the war - instructor of the Communist Party of the Czech Republic in Macedonia.

In 1945 he became secretary of the city committee of the Communist Party of Belgrade and a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Serbia. In 1966-1968 - Chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Communists of Serbia and member of the Presidium of the Central Committee.

Awards and titles

People's Hero of Yugoslavia (1953), Hero of Socialist Labor of Yugoslavia (1980), was awarded the medal "Partisan Memory".
