This species lives in western Venezuela [1] . Its diet consists largely of plants of the genus Sida [2] . It lives in low-lying savannahs in the vicinity of dry subtropical forests within the Llanos ecoregion [2] . This is the largest of the three Rabbits known from South America [1] . The length of his body is about 44 cm, and the females can be somewhat larger [2] . Reproduction occurs during three quarters of the year, but most often from September to December. The average brood size is 2.6 young. The gestation period is 35 days [2] . Possible threats to the existence of the species are the destruction of habitats as a result of deforestation and agricultural transformations, overgrazing and hunting [2] .
