Catedral Park is a park and an area adjacent to it in northernmost Portland on the east bank of the Willamette River. The park is located under the St. John's Bridge, and got its name thanks to the Gothic arches supporting the bridge, which resemble the arches of the cathedral.
History
The St. Johns Bridge across the Willamette River connects the Linton and Northwest Industrial areas in the northwest with the St. Johns and University Park districts in northeast Portland.
Catedral Park was part of the city of St. Johns until it joined Portland in 1915. [1]
In August 1949, the fifteen-year-old girl, Thelma Taylor, was abducted and killed under a bridge, where the park is now broken.
Attractions
The park has several hiking trails, picnic benches , and a floating dock on the Willamet River. The park has a small open stage, where since 1980 the annual summer jazz festival has been held. [2]
