Located on the river Ladke, 20 km from the regional center and 25 km from the Obrochnoye railway station. Anthroponym name: in the 18th century. the village belonged to M. A. Protasov . In the "List of Populated Places of the Nizhny Novgorod Province" (1863) Protasovo (Bogorodskoye) - the owner's village of 174 households (3,651 people) of Lukoyanovsky district ; there was a church, a fair was held. According to the First General Census (1897), 1,407 people lived in Protasovo.
In the early 1930s. the collective farm "Memory of Lenin" was created in the mid-1990s. was leased SKHPK "Christmas" (village Rozhdestveno ). In the modern village there is a basic school, a library, a cultural center, a post office, a first-aid post, and a store. The Protasovskaya village administration includes the villages of Bugry (45 people) and Volodinka (22 people).
