Etymology

The nomenclature name is given in honor of the Fly-Tsokotuha , a literary character of one of the tales of K. I. Chukovsky [1] .

Description

Body length 4.5 mm. The head is black. Cheeks are yellowish brown. Along the edge of the mouth are two vibris and seven peristomal setae. Antennae yellow, Length of first segment of antennae 2.5 times longer than width. Arista cirrus only on the dorsal side [2] .

Distribution

Originally, the species was considered endemic to Vietnam . A typical specimen is described from the Bavi region, 70 km northwest of Hanoi [1] . In 2014, a subpopulation was also found in China [3] .

Systematics

Typically, the species is considered as the only representative of the genus Mucha [4] . However, in 2012, the new taxon Mucha plumosa was described [5] , and in 2014 the species Mucha liangi [6] [7] [8] , however, these taxa are not mentioned in online catalogs . The closest relatives are representatives of the genus Dicranosepsis , from which Mucha tzokotucha is distinguished by a feathery aristo , markedly elongated by the 1st flagellomere and bristled synthergites [1] .
