Archdiocese of San Juan de Cuyo ( lat. Archidioecesis Sancti Ioannis de Cuyo ) is the archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church with its center in the city of San Juan , Argentina . The metropolis of San Juan de Cuyo includes the dioceses of La Rioja , San Luis . The Cathedral of the Archdiocese of San Juan de Cuyo is the church of St. John the Baptist.

History
In 1826, the Holy See established the Apostolic Vicariate of San Juan de Cuyo, isolating it from the diocese of Cordoba (today the archdiocese of Cordoba ).
On September 19, 1834, Pope Gregory XVI issued the bullet Ineffabili Dei Providentia , which elevated the Apostolic Vicariate of San Juan de Cuyo to the rank of a diocese.
On April 20, 1934, Pope Pius XI issued the bullet Nobilis Argentinae nationis , to which he transferred part of the territory of the Diocese of San Juan de Cuyo to form the Dioceses of Mendoza (today the Archdiocese of Mendoza ) and San Luis and at the same time transformed the Diocese of San Juan- de Cuyo in the archdiocese-metropolis.
