Biography
Nikolai Khitrov was born on December 19, 1926 in Bogorodsk (now Noginsk ). After completing seven classes of school, he studied at a vocational school, then worked as a cook. In November 1943, Khitrov was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front of the Great Patriotic War. In the battles he was wounded [1] .
By February 1945, Sergeant Nikolai Khitrov was an assistant platoon commander of the 41st Separate Battalion of Flamethrowers of the 2nd Assault Engineering Sapper Brigade of the 8th Guards Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland . On February 2 - 11, 1945, at the head of the assault squad, Hitrov took part in the battles for Poznan , eliminating 46 German defense units and destroying more than 400 enemy soldiers and officers [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 6, 1945, Sergeant Khitrov Nikolai Dmitrievich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal No. 6724 [1] .
After the war, Khitrov continued his service in the Soviet Army, graduated from the military engineering school. In 1961, in the rank of captain, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Moscow . He died suddenly on October 16, 1969, and was buried in the Glukhovsky cemetery of Noginsk [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .
