Glinka, Miroslav

Miroslav Glinka ( Slovak: Miroslav Hlinka ; or , - , ) - Czechoslovak , Czech and Slovak hockey player who played in the position of the central striker . Pupil of Turchinsky " Dukla ". He had Czech citizenship. In 2014, he completed his career as a player. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, he became an assistant to the head coach at the Banska Bistrica club.

He played for Dukla (Trencin), Sparta (Prague), Jokerit (Helsinki), Slovan (Bratislava), Karlovy Vary HC, MoDo, Dynamo (Moscow), Zlin HC, HC "Zilina", HC "Pardubice", HC "Chomutov".

International

As part of the Czech national team, he spent 9 matches in the 1998/99 season, scoring a total of 2 goals. As part of the national team of Slovakia, he played 82 matches (14 goals); participant of the world championships 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, participant of the World Cup 2004.

World Champion (2002), silver medalist (2000), bronze medalist (2003). Champion of Czechoslovakia (1992). Champion of Slovakia (1994, 2000), bronze medalist (2011). Champion of the Czech Republic (2004), silver medalist (2007), bronze medalist (1996, 1997). Silver medalist of the championship of Finland (2000). Silver medalist at the Swedish Championship (2002).

Coaching career

Until his death ( suicide ), he worked as an assistant to the head coach at HC Banska Bystrica in the Slovak Extra League. The head of the hockey club, Michal Longaur, praised Glinka's work and believed that he had no problems from a professional point of view.

Death

On September 14, 2014, 42-year-old Miroslav Glinka was found hanged on the balcony of a hotel in Banska Bistrica [2] . One version of suicide due to a break with his wife [3] . Glinka left a wife and two children - son Mikhail and daughter Vanessa. [4] .

Personal life

His father is a professional hockey player, played for Dukla . Miroslav Glinka's cousin is Yaroslav , also a professional hockey player.
