After the city of Sinad became the capital of the province of Phrygia Salutaria under Diocletian , the bishopric was accordingly elevated to the rank of Metropolitanate.
Following the capture of Sinad by the Seljuks , church life began to decline in the 11th century, and by the 14th century the Sinad metropolitans probably no longer lived in Sinad. In 1385, the territory of the Sinad Metropolis was entrusted to the Metropolitan Philadelphia .
Among the saints - the martyr Dorimedont of Sinad (commemorated on September 6 (19) ), the Monk Constantine of Sinad (IX century).
Currently used for titular bishops of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
On July 7, 2015, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople, on the recommendation of Patriarch Bartholomew, the Sinad diocese was elevated to the rank of Metropolitanate [1] .
