The men's 3000m hurdle final was held on August 14, 2014. The race for the most part took place in a tactical manner with a relatively low speed. The participants left the main showdown for medals in the last round. The expected breakthrough of the current European champion, Frenchman Mahidin Mehissi-Benabbad, was as expected no one could support, which allowed him to start the celebration of victory 100 meters before the finish. In a fit of joy, at the finish line he took off his shirt and ended the distance with a bare torso. The chief judge of the competitions considered this behavior unsportsmanlike and showed me a yellow card at the stadium at Mehissi-Benabbad. A little later, the Spaniards filed a protest against the final results, whose representative Angel Muliera became the fourth. The subject of the proceedings was the fact that the Frenchman finished without a T-shirt and badge, which is a violation of paragraphs 143.1 and 143.7 of the IAAF rules governing competition clothing and shoes. The protest was satisfied, Mehissi-Benabbad was deprived of gold, which passed to his teammate Joanne Koval . Muliera eventually received bronze [3] .
