For the first time, the idea of creating a football team in Poland appeared on December 20, 1919 , during the constituent assembly of the Polish Football Union (PZPN) , held in Warsaw .
The Polish national team held their first official match shortly after the end of the II Polish Championship . In mid-1921, the Hungarian Football Union approached the Polish team with a proposal to hold a match, which proposed to hold the match in Budapest on December 24, 1921 . The Polish side expressed its consent, but asked to postpone the match to either November or early next year, which was justified by the fact that the championship in Poland ends in November, and the break will badly affect the shape of the players. The game date was finally set - December 18, 1921 [1] . The victory in it was won by the Hungarians, with a score of 1: 0 [2] .
As of October 15, 2014, the Polish national team played 782 official matches. In the games of the national team 919 players took part.
