FOLFOX is an acronym generally accepted in oncology for one of the chemotherapy regimens used in the treatment of colorectal cancer .
FOLFOX mode consists of:
- Folinic acid in the form of calcium folinate (leucovorin) - (FOL) inic acid, calcium salt;
- Fluorouracil - (F) luorouracil;
- Oxaliplatin - (OX) aliplatin. [one]
FOLFOX4 mode
Adjuvant treatment for patients with stage III colorectal cancer is recommended for 12 cycles, every 2 weeks. Recommended doses given at intervals of 2 weeks are given below:
Day 1 : Oxaliplatin 85 mg / m 2 intravenously in 250-500 ml of 5% glucose solution plus leucovorin 200 mg / m 2 intravenously, also in 5% glucose solution, simultaneously, for 120 minutes, in different cans connected by a Y-shaped a splitter, then 5-fluorouracil 400 mg / m 2 intravenously for 2-4 minutes, then 5-fluorouracil 600 mg / m 2 intravenously in 500 ml of 5% glucose solution in the form of a continuous extended infusion for 22 hours.
Day 2 : Leucovorin 200 mg / m 2 in a 5% glucose solution by intravenous infusion for 120 minutes, then 5 - fluorouracil 400 mg / m 2 intravenously bolus for 2-4 minutes, then 5 - fluorouracil 600 mg / m 2 in 500 ml of 5% glucose in the form of a continuous extended infusion over 22 hours.

Premedication with antiemetic drugs, in particular 5-HT3 blockers, such as ondansetron , in combination with dexamethasone or methylprednisolone, is recommended .
