The All-Around Russia Indoor Championships 2001 was held separately on February 16-18 in Chelyabinsk .

Competition

The best result of the season in the world in the women's long jump sector was shown by Lyudmila Galkina , who flew away in the best attempt by 7 meters exactly [2] . This is a personal record of an athlete indoors and the best result in the history of the championships of Russia.

The silver medalist of the 2000 Olympic Games Tatyana Lebedeva , who set a personal indoor record of 15.00 m, won the milestone in the triple jump . This is also the best result of the world season, the record of the championships of Russia, and also the fourth result in the history of the discipline [1] .

Sydney’s other silver medalist, the core pusher Larisa Peleshenko , showed magnificent casts in her crown form. Having opened the competition with an attempt at 19.97 m, in the final she sent a projectile beyond the 20-meter line - 20.12 m - and consolidated her leadership in the world ranking [3] .

The first four athletes at a distance of 400 meters in men ran it faster than 47 seconds, thereby indicating good prospects for the relay team at the upcoming World Cup. Moreover, the new Russian champion Boris Gorban and Ruslan Mashchenko, who became the third, are primarily specialists in 400 meters hurdles [1] .

The new record for the country's championships was on the account of Olga Kotlyarova in the women's 400m race - 50.72. It is worth noting that in the season she already had the result faster: three weeks earlier at the international tournament “ Russian Winter ” she won over time 50.42 [3] .

Extra-class results were shown by women at a distance of 800 meters . All three winners "exchanged" 2 minutes and set personal records, and the current European champion Elena Afanasyeva won with the second result in Russian history - 1.58.73 [1] .

A number of good results were demonstrated by men in technical forms. The world champion in the high jump Vyacheslav Voronin after a failure at the 2000 Olympics and the ensuing conflict with the leadership of the team gradually began to return to leading roles in Russia and the world. He became the champion with a result of 2.30 m, beating young Yaroslav Rybakov , who took 2.28 m [4] .

The champion in the pole vault decided after a long jump - he became 21-year-old Pavel Gerasimov - 5.70 m. A personal record in the sector for the shot put was set by Pavel Chumachenko , with a huge margin (more than one and a half meters) from the silver medalist who won his fourth national title in the room [1] .
