Event
After Yuri’s campaign in Volyn , when Vladimir Galitsky acted as a mediator in the conclusion of peace between Yuri and Izyaslav, Izyaslav took Kiev without preparation. Yuri retreated beyond the Dnieper and began to gather troops on its left bank with the Davydovichs, Svyatoslav Olgovich and Svyatoslav Vsevolodovich . At the same time, Vladimir Galitsky opposed Izyaslav and invaded Porosie . Garrisons of black hoods were left in it, but their main forces retreated to Kiev to join Izyaslav. Izyaslav moved through Zvenigorod , crossed Stugna and Olshanitsa, after which he learned from scouts that the Galicians were in the upper river. Two troops were located on different banks.
Details of the battle were not preserved, it is only known that his arrows began on both sides, then black hoods fluttered under the onslaught of the enemy, and then Izyaslav's squad also fled. The appeal to him of black hoods has remained ( you are our prince, if you will be strong ). During the retreat, the people of Kiev suffered heavy losses by those killed and captured.
Returning to Kiev, Izyaslav learned about the beginning of the crossing of Yuri and Svyatoslavich across the Dnieper, and left the city. Fearing the Galicians, the people of Kiev took Yuri to reign. Vladimir went to the Olga’s grave , to the Church of the Tithes , and in the Kiev Pechersk Monastery met with Yuri.
A strategic persecution of Izyaslav, who retreated from Kiev, was organized. Svyatoslav Vsevolodovich and Boris Yurievich pursued him to the Devil's Forest. Then Vladimir Galitsky expelled Mstislav Izyaslavich from Dorogobuzh occupied by him to Lutsk , then he approached Lutsk, where Vladimir Mstislavich reigned, but could not take it, and went to Galich, putting Mstislav Yurevich in Dorogobuzh.
