Raya-Jooseppi ( Fin. Raja-Jooseppi ) is a Finnish checkpoint on the Finnish-Russian border in the Inari community in the Finnish province of Lappi , 52 km from Ivalo .

The point was opened on January 25, 1967, and on September 4, 1989 received the status of an international border crossing point. An automobile ( MAPP ) post on the Russian-Finnish border is open daily from 07:00 to 21:00 [1] .
In 2012, 128 054 border crossings were recorded [2] and their number is increasing [3] . Urho Kekkonen National Park and the tourist center of Saariselkä located near the border are very popular. According to the border service of the Ivalo village, the Raya-Jooseppi crossing is used to illegally transport women for prostitution in northern Norway and Finland, most of whom come from Ukraine (see prostitution in Ukraine ) and Moldova (see prostitution in Moldova ) [4] .
In November 2015, the Finnish side proposed that Russian border guards prohibit cycling across the Russian-Finnish border, citing security concerns [5] .
In connection with the budget saving regime, it is planned to reduce the operating time of the border crossing point [6] .
