Biography
Alexander Frolov was born on November 23, 1918 in the village of Pronsk (now - a village in the Ryazan region ). After finishing ten classes of a school in Leningrad, he worked as a laboratory assistant at the plant. In 1938, Frolov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1940, he graduated from the Chelyabinsk Military Aviation School of observer pilots . Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts [1] .
By September 1942, the Guard Senior Lieutenant Alexander Frolov was the navigator of the 5th Guards Air Regiment of the 50th Air Division of the USSR Airborne Forces . By that time, he had made 164 sorties to bombard accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, his important objects, inflicting heavy losses on him. He destroyed only 14 aircraft on the ground and 4 more during air battles [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of December 31, 1942, for “exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard, senior lieutenant Alexander Frolov was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the medal “ Golden Star ” under the number 770 [1] .
After the war, Frolov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1950, he graduated from the Higher Flight Tactical School. In 1959, with the rank of Colonel Frolov, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Dnepropetrovsk .
He died on January 11, 1995, was buried at the Sur-Lithuanian cemetery in Dnepropetrovsk [1] .
He was also awarded three orders of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
