Biography
Ivan Foshin was born on February 1, 1921 in the city of Valdai (now the Novgorod Region ). After completing seven classes of school, he lived and worked in Leningrad . In 1940, Foshin was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. From September 1941 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In 1943 he graduated from the military-political school, in 1944 - the Ufa Infantry School [1] .
By January 1945, Guards Lieutenant Ivan Foshin commanded a company of the 180th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 60th Guards Rifle Division of the 5th Shock Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland . On January 14, 1945, the Foshin company, advancing from the Magnushevsky bridgehead , made a maneuver to bypass the enemy’s positions and stormed the Malé Bogos town. In those battles Foshin died [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated February 27, 1945, Guard Lieutenant Ivan Foshin was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and the Red Star [1] .
