Event
The unification of Svyatoslav Olgovich with the Davydovichs, who acted against him at the previous stage of the war, and the aggravation of their relations with Izyaslav Kiev was caused by the killing of Igor Olgovich by the Kievans.
Izyaslav crossed the Dnieper with the Hungarians and ravaged the lands along the Desna , thereby hoping to lure the Svyatoslavichs from Chernigov into the field for a decisive battle, but they chose not to leave the city walls. Then Izyaslav moved to Lubech, from which the Svyatoslavichs received substantial income. The Svyatoslavichs led troops against him, uniting along the road with the Ryazan princes and Polovtsians.
Opponents are located on two banks of the river, flowing in the vicinity of Lubech and making direct contact difficult. Everything was limited to clashes between shooters on both sides. Unusual for the winter season, the rain forced Izyaslav to start moving beyond the Dnieper. When leaving, part of the Hungarians fell through the ice on a lake near Lyubech. However, Izyaslav won a strategic victory: the following winter, all Svyatoslavichs acted as his allies during his campaign against Yuri Dolgoruky , although they refrained from active actions.
