Biography

Prince George Schaumburg-Lippsky is the son of Prince Adolf I George Schaumburg-Lippsky and Hermina Waldeck-Pyrmontsky , daughter of Prince George II Waldeck-Pyrmontsky and Emma Anhalt-Bernburg-Schaumburg-Hoymsky . Received a military education. He served in Buckeburg in the Westphalian Jäger Battalion with the rank of captain. Like his father, he took part in a military campaign in France in 1870-1871 , then he served in the 11th hussar regiment in Dusseldorf . In 1876-1879 he served in the guards hussar regiment in Potsdam. After the death of his father in 1893 he became ruler of Schaumburg-Lippe.

April 16, 1882 in Altenburg, Georg Schaumburg-Lippsky married Maria Anna of Saxe-Altenburg , daughter of Prince Moritz of Saxe-Altenburg and Augusta of Saxe-Meiningen . Married:

  • Elizabeth (1908-1933), married to Benvenuto Hauptmann (1900-1965), the son of Nobel Prize winner in literature Gerhart Hauptmann (divorce), then Freiherr Johann Gerring von Frankensdorf (1891-1971)
