Biography
Born in the family of M. A. Chatelene (1866-1957), professor, founder and head of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute, in Soviet times - one of the founders of the GOELRO plan , corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences , Hero of Socialist Labor , laureate of the Stalin Prize . Her mother, Maria Alexandrovna (1867-1913), is the eldest daughter of playwright A.N. Ostrovsky .
In 1911 she graduated from Tagantseva’s private gymnasium in St. Petersburg , attended lectures at the Paris Sorbonne for a year. Returning to her homeland, she entered the Bestuzhev women's courses , where she studied law.
Member of the First World War. In 1914, she left the Bestuzhev courses, completed courses at the Women's Medical Institute. I went to the front with a sister of mercy.
In 1917, she worked at the Petrograd Food Administration, since 1922 - an employee of the International Electrotechnical Committee, secretary of the journal Electricity , and later - an employee of the Leningrad branch of Glavenergo.
In the 1930s, he was an economist and standardizer at the enterprises of the Leningrad electric industry.
During the Soviet-Finnish war, she was a nurse.
Member of World War II . In the very first days of the war she joined the militia, served as a nurse in field hospitals of the 17th and 34th armies, and participated in the Battle of Kursk . The war ended in Austria near Vienna with the rank of senior lieutenant .
In 1954 she graduated from the Leningrad Library Institute .
The last place of work before retiring in 1960 was the scientific library of the Institute of Zoology of the USSR Academy of Sciences .
The main business of life was the perpetuation of the memory of A. N. Ostrovsky, concern for his Kostroma estate Shchelykovo .
She was buried at the churchyard of St. Nicholas in Berezhki ( Ostrovsky family necropolis ).
