Biography
Nikolai Firsov was born on December 3, 1922 in the city of Fatezh (now Kursk Oblast ). He graduated from ten classes of the school. In October 1940, Firsov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In October 1941, he graduated from the Ulyanovsk Tank School . Since August 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He was wounded twice in battles [1] .
By July 1944, senior lieutenant technician Nikolai Firsov commanded a tank company of the 198th Panzer Regiment of the 6th Guards Cavalry Division of the 3rd Guards Cavalry Corps of the 3rd Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . On July 25, 1944, during the battle for the Polish village of Chervony Lug, the company Firsova inflicted heavy losses on the enemy. On the same day, in the battle for the village of Guta, the tankers of Firsov killed 3 German tanks. On July 28, 1944, capturing a German tank, Firsov made his way to the German rear and destroyed 3 armored personnel carriers, a radio station, and several dozen enemy soldiers and officers, which allowed the regiment to liberate the village of Parny Brud near Bialystok [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945 for "exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism", senior technician-lieutenant Nikolai Firsov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and a medal The Golden Star, numbered 5504 [1] .
After the war, Firsov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1949 he graduated from the Leningrad Higher Officer Armored School, in 1957 - the Military Academy of Armored Forces , in 1970 - courses at the MV Frunze Military Academy . In 1974, with the rank of Colonel Firsov, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Zaporozhye . He died on May 28, 2007, was buried in the Kaputyanoy cemetery of Zaporozhye [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, two orders of the Red Star , the Order of the Badge of Honor and a number of medals [1] .
