Biography
Aleksey Filatov was born in 1905 in the village of Nikolskoye (now the Sverdlovsk District of the Oryol Region ). After graduating from elementary school, he worked first in a personal farm, then on a collective farm . In July 1941, Filatov was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since August of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By September 1944, sergeant Alexey Filatov commanded the detachment of the 1st battalion of the 471st infantry regiment of the 73rd infantry division of the 29th infantry corps of the 48th army of the 1st Belorussian front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland . On September 14, 1944, during the battles on the Ruzhansky bridgehead, Filatov replaced the retired platoon commander and led the assault on two enemy trenches, destroying the German infantry near the company and holding out until the main forces approached. October 16, 1944 Filatov was killed in battle. He was buried in the town of Zemnevo, Mazowieckie Voivodeship of Poland [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, Sergeant Alexei Filatov was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union for "exemplary performance of combat missions of command on the front of the struggle against the German invaders and for showing courage and heroism". He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and the Red Banner [1] .
