Ritiger

Ritiger (Ritogar, "Tyrant of Geneva") is the legendary king of Alamanni , who wanted to marry Princess Vanda .

He is first mentioned in the Polish Chronicle by Vikentiy Kadlubek as a “tyrant of Geneva,” who, after Krak's death, wanted to seize his lands by force. When Wanda went to the army of invaders, the occupier’s troops were captivated by her beauty and refused to fight. Their ruler, in despair, rushed at the sword [1] .

According to the Wielkopolska Chronicle , the ruler of the Alamanni wanted to marry the beautiful Wanda, and having received a refusal from her, he invaded her country. He died during the battle and as a sign of gratitude to the pagan gods, Wanda rushed into the Vistula .

The name of the king Alemanni - Ritiger - is mentioned in the chronicle of Jan Dlugosh He may have taken this name from the story of Ozantrix in Tidrek Bernsky 's Saga [2] .
