Crater Delambre ( lat. Delambre ) - a large impact crater in the central equatorial region of the visible side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the French astronomer Jean-Baptiste-Joseph Delambre (1749-1822) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1935. The formation of the crater dates back to the late Imperial period [1] .

Crater Description
The nearest neighbors of the crater are Theon the Younger Crater in the west; Theon Senior Crater in the northwest; Dionysius crater in the north; Schmidt crater in the northeast; Moltke Crater in the east-northeast; Al Fergani Crater in the south-southeast and Taylor Crater in the south. The Sea of Tranquility is located in the northeast of the crater, in the east-northeast are the furrows of Ipatia , in the southeast is the Sea of Nectar and its Gulf of Severity [2] . Selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater , diameter 51.49 km [3] , depth 3.62 km [4] .
The crater has a polygonal shape, moderately destroyed. A small valley adjoins the southern part of the crater. The shaft is massive, with a sharp edge, in the northern part is covered by a small crater. The inner slope of the shaft is a terrace-like structure. The shaft height above the surrounding area reaches 1130 m [1] , the volume of the crater is approximately 2100 km³ [1] . The bottom of the bowl is crossed, there is a small, poorly visible central peak.
