History
It arose after 1733, went through the filled riverbed of the Ridzene River . At the beginning of the 19th century, Liela Dzirnavu (Bolshaya Melnichnaya) was named after a windmill at the end of the street adjacent to the current street on January 13th . In 1843, at the crossroads of the present Kungu and January 13 streets, the central city post office was opened, which worked here until the beginning of the 20th century. In 1860, the street, together with the nearby section of Karlovskaya Street (now - January 13) (called Malaya Pochtovaya), was united under the general name Pasta (Postal). At the end of the 19th century, when straightening Karl (Karlovskaya) Street, Pasta Street was shortened to its modern length. [2]
