Biography
Nikolai Fedorov was born on May 7, 1918 in the village of Novikovo (now the Biysk district of the Altai Territory ). After graduating from school, he worked first on the collective farm , then on the village council. In February 1940, Fedorov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. He was wounded three times in battles [1] .
By April 1944, Senior Sergeant Nikolai Fedorov commanded a machine gun at the 848th Infantry Regiment of the 267th Infantry Division of the 63rd Infantry Corps of the 51st Army of the 4th Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Crimea . On April 8, 1944, Fedorov’s calculation was one of the first to cross the Aigulskoye Lake in the Krasnoperekopsky District and opened fire from a machine gun, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy. In that battle, Fedorov was injured, but continued to fight until he died. He was buried in a mass grave in the village of Krasnoarmeyskoye in the Krasnoperekopsky district of Crimea [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the "exemplary performance of combat missions of command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown", Senior Sergeant Nikolai Fedorov was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and a medal [1] .
In honor of Fedorov a street was named in his native village [1] .
