Biography
Mikhail Falmonov was born on August 25, 1916 in the village of Yurkino (now the Lyskovsky District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region ). After graduating from seven classes of the school, he first worked as a typesetter in a printing house, then as a dispatcher at the Gorky Tram Office. In September 1939, Falmonov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since July 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. In November of the same year, he graduated from junior lieutenant courses [1] .
By July 1944, Captain Mikhail Falmonov was the deputy commander of the 243rd separate engineer and engineer battalion of the 66th engineer and engineer brigade of the 11th Guards of the 3rd Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Lithuanian SSR . From July 16 to July 25, 1944, Falmonov supervised the construction of crossings across the Neman south of Kaunas , greatly contributing to the capture and retention of the bridgehead [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for “exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown”, Captain Mikhail Falmonov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 4213 [1] .
After the war, Falmonov continued his service in the Soviet Army. In 1957, he graduated from the Central Officer Courses of Engineering Troops. In 1965, with the rank of Colonel Falmonov, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Volgograd . He died in 1990, was buried in the Central cemetery of Volgograd [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, two orders of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
