Biography
Born on May 5, 1912 in the Stepanov Farm of the Ust-Medveditsky District of the Don Don Army, was in the territory of the modern Mikhailovsky District of the Volgograd Region , in a family of Cossacks. He graduated from the rural seven-year school. From 10 years old he began to work in agriculture. In less than eighteen years, Vladimir went to the city, went to study at the labor faculty. But a year later he was forced to return home. He worked as a combine operator, machine operator in his native village.
Member of World War II . He served in aviation units, was the head of a mobile repair shop in the 8th Air Army. Participated in the defense of Stalingrad .
After the war, he moved to Central Asia with his family. He worked as the foreman of the tractor brigade in the Stakhanov MTS of the Oktyabrsky District of the Kurgan-Tyube Region of the Tajik SSR. In 1948, on the fields of the collective farms served by him, a high yield of Egyptian cotton was obtained - up to 45.7 centners per hectare on an area of 107.5 hectares.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 3, 1949, for receiving a high cotton crop, Georgy Arsentyevich Rozhnov was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal "Hammer and Sickle."
In 1951 he returned to his native land. He came to the construction of the Stalingrad hydroelectric station . He began working as a driver on a YaAZ-2010 dump truck in Stalingradhydrostroy, in 1953 he removed the first cubic meters of soil from a foundation pit of a future hydroelectric station on a dump truck. He worked on the construction of not only the hydroelectric power station but also the future city of Volzhsky. He worked at Volgogradgidrostroy until retirement, was a team leader.
They lived in the village of Middle Akhtuba , since 1963 - in the city of Volzhsky. He died in 1985.
He was awarded the Order of Lenin , medals.
In December 2013, in the city of Volzhsky, on the house where the Hero of Labor lived, a memorial plaque was opened.
