Biography

Elena is the daughter of Duke Wilhelm of Nassau and his second wife Paulina of Württemberg .

On September 26, 1853, Princess Elena married Prince George Victor Waldeck of Pyrmont . The couple had seven children - six daughters and one son. One of the daughters - Emma - became the queen and regent of the Netherlands. The eldest daughter Sophia died in 1869 at the age of 15 from tuberculosis .
