Biography
Born on January 14, 1911 in the village of Golubkovskoye (now - Alapaevsky district of the Sverdlovsk region ). After graduating from the five grades of the school and the school of factory apprenticeship, he worked at a metallurgical plant in Nizhny Salda.
In 1942, Ustinov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since August 1943 - on the fronts of World War II, he was a scout of the 205th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 70th Guards Rifle Division of the 13th Army of the Central Front [1] .
He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On September 20, 1943, Ustinov was one of the first to cross the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Domantovo, the Chernobyl district of the Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR, and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore, and personally carried out reconnaissance of the enemy defense and fire system. September 24, 1943 Ustinov died in battle. He was buried in Domantovo [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, the Red Army soldier Stepan Ustinov was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [1] .
Memory
A street in Alapaevsk [1] and Verkhnyaya Salda was named in honor of Ustinov. In May 2015, the name of the Hero was assigned to the Golubkovskaya secondary school of the Alapaevsky district of the Sverdlovsk region. In 2015, his name was immortalized on a separate granite pylon of the Alley of Heroes in Victory Square in Birobidzhan [2] .
