It is found in nature in the form of the mineral Breitgauptite - NiSb with impurities Fe, Co, As, S ^[1] ^[2] ,

Nickel antimonide forms copper-red or red-violet crystals of hexagonal syngony , space group P 6 ₃ / mmc , cell parameters a = 0.39325 nm, c = 0.51351 nm, Z = 2.

Not soluble in water.

Chemical Properties

When heated, reacts with oxygen , chlorine , nitric acid .

Application

Component of eutectic mixtures with indium antimonide for IR detectors and magnetoresistive sensors.
