Biography

Son of the Cossack of the village of Aksai [2] . In 1791, having only ten years old, Ivan Denisov entered the internal control service of the Don Cossack Army — and remained in such service until 1798, and then entered the regiment of Major Kumshatsky, stationed in the Kiev gubernia , where in 1800 was produced in the cornet .

In 1801 he took part in the Central Asian campaign , interrupted after the death of Paul I.

In 1803, Denisov was in the service in St. Petersburg , being seconded to the Life Cossack Guard of His Majesty's regiment . Denisov ensured the rotation of the regimental composition, delivering from the Don a fresh replenishment in return for those who returned to the family under the privilege [3] .

Russian-Turkish War

In 1806 he served on the Austrian border and took part in the reconquest of the Besarabian fortress Khotyn from the Turks.

In 1807, for the difference in the battle of Pultusk , he was promoted to the center .

In 1809–1811, he participated in the battles of Silistra, Tataritsa , Shumle , Slobodzee , Rushchuk and others.

Patriotic War of 1812

In 1812, Denisov was dismissed due to illness from the Ilovaysky regiment of the 11th for treatment in the Caucasus , but with the first news of the Napoleonic invasion, he returned to the regiment.

He participated in battles against the French in the city of Red and near Vilna . Then, after the death of Ilovaisky on the 11th, on November 27 he received his regiment, with whom he distinguished himself during the attack on Marienwerder [4] on January 30-31, 1813.

Further, Denisov distinguished himself at the place of Circus [5] ; under Berlin and Belzig , where on August 15, 1813, he took an enemy gun with 2 charging boxes and captured 200 cuirassiers.

He commanded the regiment until the middle of October 1813, after which he headed the consolidated Cossack unit.

During the pursuit of the enemy from Leipzig , Denisov was sent with the Orenburg Cossack regiment and the consolidated rifle squad from the Don regiments to the road leading to Hanau , and on October 19 attacked the enemy, defeated him and took many prisoners.

Next Denisov was under siege of fortresses in Holland.

In 1814, Denisov participated in the battles of Soissons , Laon , Reims and Ptvieu , and for the difference he was promoted to colonel .

In 1824, Denisov was dismissed from the rank of major general .

He died in 1848.

Awards

For differences in the battles I. D. was awarded orders: of sv. George 4 tbsp. (for the case at Belzig), sv. Vladimir 4 tbsp. with swords and bow Anna 2 tbsp. with swords, and also - a golden saber with the inscription: "For courage . "
