Biography
My father is a Red Guard , after the defeat of the civil war in Finland in 1918, he went to Russia with his family.
In 1933 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Journalism , in 1935 he graduated from the Leningrad University of National Minorities named after Markhlevsky . He was a member of the Leningrad Association of Proletarian Writers (LAPP) , published in Soviet Finnish-language magazines under the pseudonym Kullervo Kynämies ( Kullervo Kuniies ).
Member of World War II as an instructor in the political department of the 23rd Army . Participated in the defense of Leningrad.
In 1950 he was admitted to the Union of Writers of the USSR.
In the years 1955-1971 - chief editor of the magazine Punalippu .
In 1971-1975 he headed the Union of Writers of the Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Karelian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic .
In addition to works of prose and dramaturgy, W. K. Wickstrom is known as a literary critic and translator. He translated into Finnish a number of works by V.I. Lenin , works by C. Aitmatov , K. Paustovsky , N. Pogodin , A. Fadeev , M. Sholokhov .
He was buried in Petrozavodsk at the Sulazhgorsky Memorial Cemetery [2] .

Daughter - Terttu Vikstrom (1932-1990) - prose writer, poetess, translator, Honored Worker of Culture of the Karelian ASSR.
